Dear Family ("we," "our," "us") respects your privacy and the privacy of your family. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly:
Email Address (used to create your account and sign in, and reset password) Name and profile information you choose to add Video, audio, photo, and text content you record or upload, including messages sent to other users and stories saved to your Family Legacy Library Information you provide when contacting support Information collected automatically:
Device information (device type, operating system version) App usage and diagnostic data, used to keep the app working reliably We do not require or collect GPS location, and we do not access your device contacts unless you explicitly choose to use an invite feature that requires it.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
Create and maintain your account Deliver the video messages and stories you record to the family members you choose Maintain your Family Legacy Library and make it accessible to the family members you invite Send you service-related notifications (such as when someone sends you a message) Process subscription payments for the Family Legacy Library Improve the reliability and performance of the app Respond to support requests We do not use your content, your phone number, or your family's stories for advertising, and we do not sell your personal information to third parties.
3. Who Can See Your Content
Video messages you send are visible only to the specific person or people you send them to. Content saved to your Family Legacy Library is visible only to the members of your family group that you or your family's Legacy Library keeper have invited. Dear Family has no public profiles, public feed, or public content of any kind.
4. Third-Party Services
We use a limited number of trusted third-party service providers to operate Dear Family:
Cloud storage and backend infrastructure, to securely store your account data and video/audio content Payment processing, through Apple's App Store and Google Play, and subscription management through RevenueCat, to process and manage your Family Legacy Library subscription These providers are contractually required to protect your data and are only permitted to use it to provide services to us — never for their own advertising or marketing purposes. We do not share your data with data brokers, and we do not permit third-party advertising or tracking SDKs in Dear Family.
5. Children's Information
Dear Family is intended for use by adults creating and managing accounts on behalf of their family. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If your family includes children whose images, voices, or likeness appear within video messages or Legacy Library content, that content is added and managed by the adult account holder and is subject to the same privacy protections described in this policy.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
Your video messages and Legacy Library content are retained for as long as your account is active, so that your family's stories remain available. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting dearfamilyapp@gmail.com. If a Family Legacy Library subscription lapses, the library becomes view-only rather than deleted — your family's content is never automatically erased due to non-payment.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
Access the personal information we hold about you Request correction of inaccurate information Request deletion of your account and content Withdraw consent for data processing where applicable California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information is collected and the right to request deletion. We use industry-standard security measures, including encrypted data transmission, to protect your account information and content. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we continually work to improve our safeguards.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify users through the app or by updating the "Last updated" date above.
